One day, during my discussion with a skeptic of the Noble Qur’an, he excessively wanted to prove that the Qur’an is a book which a group of people brought to existence.

He said:

I do not even support the idea that Satan is the writer of the Qur’an, because Satan is not so naive as to make a grave mistake such as mentioning the verse “ clothed the bones with flesh.” It has been scientifically proven that flesh is formed before the bones.

I told him:

Yes, Satan is not naive, because he has been able to play with your minds.

The Qur’an did not say that God created the bones before He created the flesh.

God said in the Holy Quran:

then We developed the drop into a clinging clot ˹of blood˺, then developed the clot into a lump ˹of flesh˺, then developed the lump into bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, then We brought it into being as a new creation. So Blessed is Allah, the Best of Creators.[believers: 14].

For example, when you want to dress your daughter up, you certainly do not make the cloth while she is being dressed up, but the cloth should be already there.

Accordingly, the sentence “clothed the bones with flesh ” does not mean that the flesh existed before the bones.

Rather, God covered the bones with flesh.

Which is called scientifically:

wrapping of muscles around bones.

This process is presented in one of the development stages of the fetus, where the muscles are fixed to the bones by tendons.

From the Qur’anic rhetoric, the meaning of clothing is achieved simultaneously, so the skin becomes thicker and darker, after it was transparent.

Thus, the process of covering the bones with the flesh, along with the process of covering them by making the skin opaque, is achieved simultaneously, expressed by the Qur’an with one expression, “clothed the bones.”

The bones would disappear behind the muscles, and the opaque skin, therefore, the intended meaning of clothing is achieved.

Embryologists say that most tissues are created in parallel rather than in series.

The questioner said:

It has been proven that there is no stage at which the fetus turns into an entire bone.

I said to him:

The noble verse came to indicate that the bones are what gives the fetus its specific shape. Because if you hold the fetus without bones, you will be able to change its shape with your hand. The Qur’an did not say that the entire fetus turns into a bone.

Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:

Verily your creation is on this wise. The constituents of one of you are collected for forty days in his mother’s womb in the form of blood, after which it becomes a clot of blood in another period of forty days. Then it becomes a lump of flesh… (Sahih Muslim)

Dr. Abdul-Daem Al-Kaheel, a researcher in the scientific miracles in the Qur’an, says:

The sperm travels to the egg for fertilization and the production of the zygote, and this process takes several days.

After that, the leech is formed, and it is attached to the uterine wall. It also chooses the best place for attachment so that it secures the appropriate nourishment, and this is done within 6-12 days from the start of insemination!

Then the leech turns into something like a piece of chewed meat, and this stage is called chewing. It occurs during the 4-6th week of the fetus’s life.

We would like to point out that these stages do not happen suddenly, but rather gradually and overlap with each other. We would then be able to distinguish the fetus as an embryo before the end of the sixth week approximately.

The doctor attached this picture to his research on this point.

The doctor continues:

In the seventh week, bone formation begins, but the bones will be coated with muscle immediately after the formation of bones, and it is difficult to distinguish this.

Therefore, God Almighty did not say (Then We clothed the bones with flesh), but rather He said: (We clothed the bones with flesh), which denotes the speed of the matter and its rapid succession.

This is what actually happens, as muscles are formed in about 7.5 weeks.

Of course, bone formation and hardening continue. It continues to build muscle and encapsulate the bones for several weeks.

There is a continuation of growth even after birth.

Scientists say according to the second reference:

Did you know the oldest bones in your body are your collar bone and jaw? These bones begin to develop in the womb by 7 weeks after fertilization

They also say in the same page:

From 7 to 7½ weeks, tendons attach leg muscles to bones, and knee joints appear

From week 7 to week 7.5, the tendons begin to connect the muscles to the bones, as the joints of the knees appear.

This means that bones are formed at the end of the seventh week, and that muscles cover the bones immediately after the end of the seventh week.

This corresponds to the absence of the word “then” which indicates the speed of the sequence in the Almighty’s saying: (So We clothed the bones with flesh).

This indicates the accuracy of the words of the Noble Qur’an.

However, the Qur’an tells the story of that man who passed by a village called Al-Uzayr, and God wanted to show him the miracle of resurrecting the dead. So, God caused himto die for a hundred years, and then resurrected him. Then He showed him the way of how He coveres the bones of his ass with flesh.

The Almighty God said:

We will put the bones (of the ass) together and will clothe them with flesh [Al-Baqarah: 259].

It is noticeable here that God said: (Then We clothed it). He did not say (We clothe it). So, He used (Then) to indicate that the process here took time to show the man the process of creating bones and covering them with flesh.

If the Qur’an did not add ” then” in this place, and said: Look at the bones, how we gnaw them and clothe them with flesh, Al-Uzair would not have been able to see this process. Because it occurs in the fetus in a flash, and takes place within a very short time that is difficult to monitor.

The doctor concludes:

This indicates the infinite accuracy of the Book of God Almighty.

I want to add here that :

The main message of the Noble Qur’an, the seal of the heavenly books, which was brought by the seal of the prophets and messengers, is the message of all the heavenly books that preceded it, which is:

Believing in God (the Creator), that He has no partner or son. He does not incarnate in any of His creations or any idol. Also, humans need to have a direct connection with Him, not through any priest or saint

Notes:

The reference of God to Himself as WE or US in many verses of the Qur’an denotes Grandeur and Power in Arabic. In the English language this is known as the royal WE, where a plural pronoun is used to refer to a single person holding a high office, such as a monarch. For the avoidance of doubt, the Qur’an has consistently reminded us of the SINGULAR pronoun in reference to God, when called upon by His servants.

The Christians, Jews, and Muslims in the Middle East use the word “Allah” to refer to God, which refers to The Only True God ( the Creator). The word Allah was mentioned in the earlier version of the Old Testament 89 times. (Refer to Genesis 2:4, Book of Daniel 6:20 Hebrew and Arabic Bible)
